About the CPS test

CPS means clicks per second. The test counts your clicks for a set time and divides the count by the seconds. It starts at 10 seconds; every other length, from 1 second to 15 minutes, is one click away above the box.

CPS = clicks ÷ secondsClick 67 times in 10 seconds and your CPS is 6.7.

Across 42,291,019 tests on the CPS Test since 2019, the average is 6.81 CPS over 1 second, 6.66 over 10 seconds and 5.46 over 3 minutes. The longer the test, the harder the pace is to hold. In the 10 second test, 8.6 CPS or more puts you in the top 10%.

The chart has two lines. The green one is your average since the first click. The red one is your speed over the last 0.3 seconds, so bursts and tired moments show up as peaks and dips.

How to take the test

  1. Pick a length above the box. This page starts with the 10 second test.
  2. Click inside the green box. The timer starts with your first click.
  3. Keep clicking until the time runs out. Every click is drawn on the chart.
  4. Your result shows your CPS, an animal rank, the speed it equals and whether it is your personal best.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average CPS?
On the CPS Test the average is 6.81 CPS over 1 second, 6.66 over 10 seconds and 5.46 over 3 minutes. It drops as the test gets longer because most people cannot hold a burst pace.
What is a good CPS?
In the 10 second test, anything above 8.6 CPS is in the top 10%, and above 12.6 CPS you are among the top 1% and should record a video for the world records. One second bursts run higher: there the top 10% starts at 12 CPS.
What does CPS stand for?
CPS means clicks per second. It is the number of mouse clicks (or taps) you make divided by the length of the test in seconds.
Why does the chart show two lines?
The green line is your average CPS since the first click. The red line is your real-time CPS measured over the last 0.3 seconds. The gap between them shows how your speed changes during the test.
Does the test work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the box instead of clicking. Touch input is counted the same way, and we keep separate world records for mobile and tablet.
Are auto clickers allowed?
No. Auto clickers produce perfectly even intervals that are easy to spot on the chart. Records set with an auto clicker are not accepted.
