Three changes went out today: a page of open data, a live leaderboard that shows more than its top five, and the Country Cup on the leaderboard page.
Open data
Open data is a new page with the numbers behind cpstest.app for the last 28 days:
- Tests. How many tests were finished each day, by length, mode, device and country, with the average CPS of each. Every finished test sends us a short summary (its length, its mode, the number of clicks and the type of device), and this is those summaries counted. In the 28 days from September 29 to October 26 there were 24,636 of them.
- Visitors. From Google Analytics: visitors per day, their countries and devices, how they arrived and which pages they read.
- Google Search. From Google Search Console: how often the site appeared in Google’s results, how often it was clicked, and the searches that led here.
A small program of ours refreshes the page every three hours, so the numbers stay current without anyone updating them by hand. Every number is a total over all visitors. A search only appears if it showed the site at least ten times and does not look like an address or a link. The data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0, and the same numbers are at /api/open-data as JSON.
The live leaderboard goes past five
The live leaderboard beside every test shows the five fastest players among the last 100 verified runs at that length. Most of the players are further down: on the 10 second test this morning, 16 players shared those 100 runs. Under the top five the panel now says how many more there are and leads to the full leaderboard. If you are signed in and further down, your own row appears under the five, with your place.
If you are not signed in, the panel now has a Google sign-in button where the Compete switch goes. Signing in puts your verified runs on the boards and keeps a training log of your week.
The Country Cup, on the leaderboard page
The Country Cup ranks countries every week on the 10 second test, by the best runs of their five fastest players added together. This week’s table now also sits beside the leaderboard, with last week’s top three under it. Last week, week 43, India won with 30.1, ahead of the United States with 18.6 and Ireland with 12.8.
Choose your country in your profile and take the 10 second test with Compete switched on.
