What is drag clicking?

Drag clicking means resting a finger lightly on the mouse button and dragging it down the surface. The friction makes the finger skip, and the switch registers many presses in a single drag, often 20 or more per second in short bursts.

It only works on some mice. A grippy or textured button helps, and so does a mouse whose switches are not heavily debounced. On many mice a drag registers only a few clicks, whatever the technique.

This page runs the same test as the normal CPS test: every click in the box counts, and each drag shows up as a spike on the red line. Drag scores are kept out of the shared leaderboards and the normal-click rankings, because they are not comparable.

CPS = clicks ÷ secondsClick 97 times in 15 seconds and your CPS is 6.5.

The chart has two lines. The green one is your average since the first click. The red one is your speed over the last 0.3 seconds, so bursts and tired moments show up as peaks and dips.

How to take the test

  1. Dry your fingers. Some players put a strip of grip tape on the button.
  2. Rest a fingertip near the top of the left button and press lightly.
  3. Click inside the box to start the timer, then drag the finger down the button, lift it, and repeat for 15 seconds.
  4. Watch the red line: each drag should show up as a spike. If it does not, your mouse may not register drag clicks.

Frequently asked questions

Why does drag clicking not work on my mouse?
Many mice filter out very fast repeated presses, and smooth buttons give your finger too little friction. A textured button, grip tape or a mouse known to drag click well makes a big difference.
How many CPS can drag clicking reach?
Well above normal clicking. With a mouse that suits it, short bursts of 20 to 30 clicks per second are common, and some players go higher. Over longer tests the numbers drop as the finger tires and the drags get uneven.
Is drag clicking allowed in Minecraft?
It depends on the server. Many PvP servers cap clicks per second or treat very high CPS as an auto clicker, so check the rules before you use it in a match.
Do drag clicking scores count on the leaderboard?
No. Drag scores are saved in your browser as personal records, but they stay out of the live and weekly leaderboards so that normal clicking is compared with normal clicking.
What does CPS stand for?
CPS means clicks per second. It is the number of mouse clicks (or taps) you make divided by the length of the test in seconds.
Why does the chart show two lines?
The green line is your average CPS since the first click. The red line is your real-time CPS measured over the last 0.3 seconds. The gap between them shows how your speed changes during the test.
Does the test work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the box instead of clicking. Touch input is counted the same way, and we keep separate world records for mobile and tablet.
Are auto clickers allowed?
No. Auto clickers produce perfectly even intervals that are easy to spot on the chart. Records set with an auto clicker are not accepted.
